this is my first time on this site I'm very sorry if this is a repost.

i have a 1987 camaro i have had this car for a few years and never had a clue about this TC control till a few days ago. i decided a few days ago i did not need the wire harness that comes out of the computer till i seen the wires that go to the 700r4. i had a Friend tell me what it was and he told me that there is a way to hook that up to a toggle switch i pulled the harness out of the computer and the 3 wires that go to the 700r4 had been cut right at the plug so it has never been hooked up since i have had the car. i cut the wires so they are like 6 foot long going down to the transmission. i had the transmission rebuilt a few years ago and luckily only had the car on the interstate maybe 2 times for 30 min both times so don't think i ever got it to hot.OK ill get to the point i see a kit to lock up the transmission in 4th gear for like 80$. i have also seen some say all you have to do it hook up 12v and a ground to the wires coming out of the transmission and it will lock up in 4th gear?? if you can do it this way what is the toggle switch for??if i dont need to spend 80$ that would be nice. but how do you do this???

If you do a search on TC lockup you will probably find a lot more information.

But you need to have some control over the lockup function. You want it to unlock when:
1. you put on the brakes (NC switch on the brake pedal)
2. you are slowing to a stop (normal trans function to unlock on downshift)
3. when you give it moderate throttle (vacuum switch)
4. in slow traffic in 4th gear (speed switch, rpm switch, or toggle)

A toggle switch wired into the positive or ground side of the TC lockup electrical connection on the trans will allow you to disable the lockup, but it is pretty inconvenient to try and remember. It might be workable if you just plan to use lockup on the interstate and disable it as soon as you approach an exit ramp.

The kits make lockup work more automatically.
