From what I have read ( little) the v-bpdy operates at near full line pressure full time.... 200 psi?

This would cause harsh engagement from say P to R or the P to OD shifter positions.

High line pressure can also wear a pump out a bit faster.

just random thoughts.... I have not seen or used one of these v-body setups.

Thanks Crosley,
Think I will stay away for now. I did not think about that and a trans expert I am not. Thanks again

A good idea. You won't get clunking or hard shifts at low speed when combined with a high stall converter.

My TH-350 is modified like this. The TV/kickdown cable is eliminated. Shifts and drives fine.

A TH350 doesn't have a TV cable or the associated critical adjustment so is irrelevant to the 700 VB.

As I've said here before,
it seems to be a good idea on the surface, and I can understand the reasoning, but there is a tradeoff, in trans function and life expectancy.

One thing to think about, GM would have done this if they thought it was better. The cable isn't an issue when properly setup, and it isn't that hard to setup.
Millions of GM vehicles used a TV cable without issue.
There would also likely be a fuel mileage reduction using this VB. The variable displacement pump was developed for greater efficiency and this VB will kill much of that.
