The engine has a very radical idle(sounds like popcorn poping). I don't know the specs but I feel bad for the cars behind me at the stop light because of the exhaust fumes are very strong (smells like gas). I just want a low rumble at idle without the bad gas smell. What cam & converter would you recommend? What converter would also be good for my existing 350 and reuse on my 454?
That gas smell is from the valve overlap. Improper mixture adjustment at the carb can also cause this, but I think it is mostly the cam. Sounds like you have way too much cam. That thing must be a dog around town.
