Tech Sheet Question, DuPont DTM Epoxy

In then tech sheet under the description for the product I’m a little confused.

It says,

DTM is available in lead/chromate free ValueShade® and chromate for
use under body filler, polyester putties, primer-surfacers and topcoats.

Now does that mean both products or just the DTM Chromate is for use under fillers?

Also I might be missing it but I don’t see anything saying what the flash time is between the two coats.

OK let's see...
... how long to wait between coats? It only takes 1 coat. Chromate primers are only designed to etch the metal and supply great corrosion protection. They serve no other purpose. If that is what you've chose to use, just apply one medium wet coat as per stated in the application directions. I personally prefer a chromate/lead free epoxy/filler to seal my bare metal with. This supplies excellent protective properties and a little build to work with as well.

Good luck!

Haven’t chosen anything yet other than shooting a DuPont Epoxy primer. I basically have two options. The lead/chromate free epoxy or the chromate epoxy?

Was lost in the wording in the tech sheet. Does it mean that both can have filler applied over the primer or just the chromate one?

Tech sheet says one coat or two coats. I had a recommendation of two coats in my case (heavy pitting). Look where it says Flash/Dry Times.

Alright, I had a boss a while back that insisted I use a chromate primer on a '57 chevy roof with heavy pitting. He couldn't say why, but I did what I was told, well, I did only use one coat. Chromate primers contain acid, so giving a full recommended flash before top coating with a filler primer is important. A second coat is not recommended by Dupont in the tech sheet. They only inform you that a second coat stretches flash time considerably. The '57 I referred to came out just great, and still looks great! So, I'm not saying chromate is bad. But, i am saying that it probably is not going to do much in the way of fixing your pits. And filler is still going to be needed.

I got this response from DuPont!

All of the DTM epoxies can be used under body fillers. The 2580 CR offers
the most corrosion resistance.
