4500 pound truck is not going to launch hard without a lot of gearing/traction and hook.
If you get all of that,its also going to be a parts breaker.
I would consider building a 380 hp,,500 # torque 454 that peaks at or just over 5,000 rpm.This will be easier all around.
Basically an LS-5 with mild cam,headers,good 4 barrel and intake
Ive got a B&M street/strip TH400 already, Was thinking about a set of 4.10's for the rear in a 12 bolt instead of the 10 i have now. Ive looked for a 454 in the past with out much luck. The ones i found needed a lot of machine work or was way over priced. I felt it would be best to build this motor, as it only cost me 150.00 and he helped load it!
