Tell me watcha think

I am a musician , as well as a car lover. I have a myspace page that I post my tunes on , and I'd like y'all to drop in to the page and tell me what you think of it. I do everything myself , even the recording/mixing .
I don't expect everyone to like it , so feel free to let me know how you feel.
I'm a big boy. I can take it.
Here's a link to the page :
www.myspace.com/6brats3dogs2bands1woman
or maybe not a link , but that's the address.
Have a good day , and take care!

Sounds like Alvin Lee and Keith Moon playing scary surf music

I think...

It isn't the kind of stuff I'd want to listen to, stuck in slow traffic, thats for sure.

Later, mikey

Not bad at all. I feel a little qualified to comment, since I also play guitar/bass. I think your lead needs to come up a little more in the mix & personally, try not to overdo the distortion.
Just my ".02" as you guys say. Over here, it would be "Tuppence".

Thanks for the "tuppence" .... I tend to frown on lead guitar being really out front , but I appreciate the input. I will keep it in mind when mixing the next batch of tunes. Distortion is my crutch , I think I might fall down without it . JK - but thanks for droppin in and listening.

You too , Mikey.
I hope you're not stuck in traffic anytime soon.

I think right now , there are 4 songs up , one of them is a Chrismas parody song that is more strange than good , but it's Christmas time ,so....
I'll do my best to not believe that Alvin Lee mention : I'm not good enough to change his strings!!

Oh , Merry Christmas , by the way !
Keep an ear open for "The Hot Rodders.com 12 bar boogie" right after the new year.

Pretty cool stuff

Rather than the heavy metal style distortion I'd like to hear it with raw distortion - you know when the tubes are burning bright red

I'm not huge fan of Big Sugar, but Gordie Johnson's got a great guitar distortion sound. Here's a link to a site that plays Big Sugar when you go to it. Check out I'm a Ram. You'll see what I mean.

Not many musicians here on hotrodders that I know of. Might be a cool thread to start.

re: tell me what you think

I am a musician also, or so in my own mind. I play guitar and bass! I thought your work kicks butt! On the first song, the lead was a little choppy, but I liked the finger picking. The Lynyrd Skynyrd surf song was the best, in my opinion!
Keep rockin Dude!
By the way I use "Cakewalk" to record, what do you use?

It's funny ,the new tunes I'm working on that are 'hot rod' themed all have a grittier ac/dc type of distortion than the website stuff , and also will have the leads more out front.
Never heard of Big Sugar , but I can't say I regret checking them out. Thanks for the link.

I have a Boss/Roland digital multitrack recorder that has built in effects/amp models , etc. , etc. ... technology is crazy . I don't even use an amp when I record these songs. Just plug into the box and go.
Thanks for giving a listen.
Mike

Yeah, Big Sugar was a pretty big band up here in Canada. (Any USA guys heard of them?) Blues based rock. Johnson is pretty respected for his guitar talent and sound. I was just reading up on him yesterday. I didn't know but he's also from Winnipeg, and we were born in the same hospital.

More trivia - He's a Mopar guy. Had his Charger R/T on the cover of one of his albums. Another album called Hemi-Vision.

Looking forward to hearing more of your stuff.

BTW, I just noticed your PM today. Check your mailbox.

Cool stuff dude! Add me to the list of musicians (bass) on this forum! I'm strictly analog - record live in a studio. My 15-year old son plays guitar, bass and drums...he uses the MOTU Digital Performer 5.13 sequencer to record his stuff (covers for the moment). That digital stuff is way above my head, but I'm glad he's into music and hot rods rather than other things. What equipment are you using to record?

Sounds like you're influenced by Metallica? Love it. Keep it going bro.

Antny

ANTNY-
Thanks for the kind words - Influenced by Metallica? you bet! The old stuff - before 'load' and 'reload' ...
I've got a 15 year old son , too! He's more interested in math than music , but I ain't complaining. I wish I had been more like that , myself .... who knew?
anyway... The digital recorder I use is EASY as anything analog. maybe even easier. Go to www.musiciansfriend.com and check out their Boss recorders. Mine is the 8 track (cheap) version , but they have em right on up to 24 tracks , which will spit out a finished , mastered CD at the end.
Bass is an honorable ,often overlooked instrument that actually has the best of both worlds , you keep time with the drummer , AND hold the melody with the guitarist.
Have a safe and healthy New Year!
Mike
