temp switch

i'm having troubles finding my temp switch on my 1997 ford F250 460 EFI... my gauge is stuck on cold.. and doesnt move even when warmed up.. so im thinking its the sending unit.. i baught one at the parts store today its plastic and says it goes in the manifold.. but there isnt a plastic switch any where on the manifold. did i get the wrong switch?? or em i looking in the wrong place?? thanx for the help

i thought the temperature sensor for the gauge was in the head.
i didnt know the 7.5 was available in 97

k for u ford guys.. on these stock temperature gauges.. the normal range.. my gauge does move! from cold to about 2mm past the normal range.. could this be normal? i thought them big blocks ran hot?? i was expecting half way in the normal range..
