Tempermental Trans-Am!!!

Hey fellas , need to pick some brains on my freinds "tempermental T/A" . It's an 88 T/A with the 5.0 Chevy , 5-speed , TPI. Here's the problem , when it sits for awhile it starts fine , once the engine reaches operating temp and it is shut down , it will NOT restart. He recently did a tune up ( new cap , rotor , plugs ). I went over it to make sure he did'nt cross any wires , also when it is running it wants to idle above where it should be... I think it should be around 750-800 rpm @ idle , but it will idle steady @ 1000 or 1200. I did the GM scanner deal and got a code# 12 , 15 & 36. None of these would seem to contribute to the way it is acting though... very strange. Also there are a few minor modifications to the engine , it has a SLP runner kit (uses stock plenum) and the airfoil insert that bolts into the throttle body , also has an accel ignition. If anyone has experienced this with a TPI car or has some idea of what is going on please drop some knowledge off!!

Got it!!

Thanks for the replies DoubleVision & T-Bucket , I figured out what was causing the problem. The idle control sensor is either bad or the connection is bad. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and held it while the engine was being turned over and it fired right up. I immediately had the engine shut off and had them try it again and it just cranked... until I moved the idle control sensor again and it fired up again. So..that explains the idle problem and the no start deal. Funny.. as long as it was running it was fine and the sensor seemed to be doing it's job... so it was overlooked many times. Hope my experience with this ordeal will help someone else out if they have the same thing happen to them. Thanks again for trying to help me out guys!!
