TH-125 problem

Hi.
We recently bought an Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera(1990),it is a nice car and every thing work well but when we change the gear to (D) we hear a sound like hiting(Bang) and then as we go on reverse(R) we hear louder one, where the problem comes from??
It uses a TH-125 (FWD).

Thanks.

Open the hood and watch the engine for movement when holding the brake and giving the engine some throttle. BE CAREFUL! No one in front of the car, set parking brake, chock the wheels. If the engine tips up more than it should, the mounts are shot.

If that looks OK, it could be CV joint related. Does it make noise when driving in a tight circle in either direction?
