TH-350 Detent cable bolt size

Do any of you guys happen to know what size bolt is used to secure the detent cable to the trans case? I tried a 1/4-20 and an M6, no go.

Thanks for any help. I'm trying to do this on my back under the truck and for some reason I don't see as well as I used to. LOL

it depends on the year of the case... early cases will take 1/4-20, the late cases will take the m6.are you sure the threads are ok going into the case? also, on the th350, the detent bolt does not go in straight up and down, it has a angle to it..

I was finally able to get closer and clean out the threads. 1/4-20 did the trick, I didn't want to force it, like I would have in the past. LOL

Thanks!
