no you can not install a non lock up converter, you can change pump and forward drum but you need to drill relief whole for lock up oil or front seal will blow out. what converter are you looking at that cost 4 times as much as non lock up? the cost should be slightly higher on lock up.

i need elaborated info on this relief hole, i have a th350c from an 81 pickup and it had a diesel 350 oldsmobile in front of it i junked the TC and have been trying to find a gas engine version of TC for it all to no avail, for a couple years now, perfectly good tranny would love to use it
if i could swap the input shaft and drum and whatever to a non lockup that would be great

so i could finally use this tranny

you must swap in a non lock up pump & stator support.

then non lock up input shaft, also plug the hole for lock up solenoid.

Block the lock up valve in place in the small secondary v-body'

drill hole in stator support as this photo shows.

and 475 for a converter ?
