TH-350 Questions

TH350 K case three speed automatic transmission - THE H.A.M.B.

Take a look at the picture on the link above. Specifically, picture 1 of 6. What is the port on the driver's side near the top of the case? I started filling my trans and after quart 8 I got overflow out of it???? The motor was not running while I was filling an empty transmission. The fitting is loose and seems to be plastic. Is it some sort of presure bypass???

That is the vent for the case. You should not have fluid come out of there unless it is way over full.

The engine needs to be running when you fill the trans, otherwise it will come out of the vent, just like you had happen. The torque converter will not fill unless the front pump is turning to pump it full.

Although not important to the question here:

That ad on the HAMB is not a K case t-350 4x4 trans as the seller indicates.

An actual K case t-350 trans is a 4x4 case with bolt on cast aluminum dust cover.

Also, the non-lockup K case is 78-79 only and VERY VERY hard to find a good one.
