chevymastermind, depending on the type of intake you have there should be a port( which may not be the best word to describe it) on the back of the intake near where the dizzy goes. If you have a new intake it probably doesn't have a fitting, so you will need to get one and screw into intake.
Looking from front bumper at the engine there should be a 3/8s or 1/2 NPT hole a little bit behind the carb and to the left in the intake runner to cylinder 6 or 8. Or you can steal some vacuum for a port on the carb if one is readily available.
 well its a holly 4150 carb and ya thats the port i thought it was and it is blocked by the 4150's large size! so where are some vacum ports that will work? and also do you know where the power brake booster hose goes to on the engine? and also the vacum modular on my distributer goes to?
I'm going to upload some pictures in a second of what you need to be looking for.
The brass plug at back of manifold is what we were referring to. The carb pictures show vacuum ports for brakes, PCV, and advance for ignition. The uncapped one is for PCV. Little one next to it is for ignition. Big one in the last photo is brakes.
thank you and yes that one is the one im refering to also. and the carb is indead blocking that! :smash: any suggestions? the other two pics are very helpful! is that a holley 4150 your showing me?
Thank you so much for takeing the time to help me!
yeah its a 4150. easiest way to tell between the main styles of holley carbs like the 4150s and the 4160s is 4150s have metering blocks on both primary and secondary fuel bowl and 4160s only have blocks on the primary fuel bowl and have a plate in the rear.
I cant believe you cant get at the fitting on the manifold. Mine clears it pretty good. You may have to take carb off and put in an elbow fitting that wont hit the bowl.
just a thought, maybe a carb spacer will help bring the carb up enough to get that elbow fitting in there..
