th 400 1-2 upshift w/lever in 1st

this is in a offroad vehicle.when i shift to 1st and give it more throttle,it shifts on up to 2nd. also this tranny does not have a kickdown switch or cable.i run a 351w with a c6.but a couple of friends use the th 400 and have ask me about this.is there a kit or procedure to fix this.will not stay in 1st. thanks

You need to grind flats on the 1-2 shift valve. There are instructions for this on the net, they say to also plug an exhaust port in the VB- something I never did when I modded my valve.
