TH 400 Tail Shaft Change
I am looking at a TH400 with a long tail shaft for use on a project. Would like to change out the tail shaft to the short version. How difficult is this change?

WHY change it ... ?
The mounting holes for the crossmember are only 1 inch or so further back. I have installed the long 400 in a good many cars over the the years ... with no adverse effects ... I even have a long 400 Turbo in my short little 32 Ford roadster ...  IF ... you insist on changing it ...  the tail housing will interchange on the case but the shaft has to be changed ...
