You just need the crossmember from a G-body with a 200-4R. The mount on the 200-4R is in the same place as on the TH400. You will need the aftermarket frame rail extension to accommodate this trans since the 200-4R was not offered in 1981 and your frame won't have it.

Didn't they have that in the later Elamino/Malibu's, as well as later G-gody cars? The other G-body crossmembers should be a bolt-in as well if I'm not mistaken. So it shouldn't be hard to find one. I'm guessing mid 80's Buick/Olds/Pontiac/Chev G-body cars. Just look at the gear selector/shifter for the OD, so you don't have to bend down every time you want to check a car.

If you want to retro-fit a dual hump crossmember to easily fit dual exhaust, the crossmember from a 64-72 Chevelle or 70-72 Monte Carlo is an easy fit, all you need to do is trim the ends and redrill some holes.

It sure beats the crappy one hump boomerang shaped factory piece.

G-Body Trans Swap & Crossmember Info

G-Body Trans Swap>> http://www.maliburacing.com/transmission_swaps.html
Iceman / Rick has a nice lightweight ChromeMoly tube Crossmember thats cheaper. It accepts most any dual exhaust pattern with room to spare. He also has the right/passenger side Frame extension.
