Different V6s, the 60 degree engines and 90 degree engines are different, the 90's are V8 derivatives and take the V8 bolt pattern, the 60 degree V6s are unique to themselves and some inline 4's.

Add to that, Chevy blocks and BOP blocks have different bolt patterns. There are adapters sold to go between Chev and BOP patterns if you have the Buick 90 degree V6.

if it has a 3.8. it should be a buick olds pontiac (bop) 90 degree v8 bellhousing. get a th350 that is a bop bolt pattern. there are th350's that a dual bolt pattern. they do exist!

First, what "wholes" didn't line up? The bellhousing bolt holes or the crossmember? As noted above, you need a TH350 with either a BOP bellhousing or a universal bellhousing. The Chevy-only TH350 won't bolt to your Buick V6. Note that while the universal bolt pattern TH350s do exist, they are all TH350C transmissions with the computer-controlled lockup torque converter. If you want that feature, great, but if not, get an older one.
