th350 with 9 inch ford rear?
I am preparing to install a chevy v8 with th350 into my car which has a ford 9 inch posi set up. This being a new procedure for me,
I was hoping someone might be able to give some advice about what driveshaft componets to use with this combination. Any help greatly appreciated. |

There are several variables to contend with.
Chevy uses a couple of different style jonts depending on the year. The big difference is outside locks or the inside locks/c-clip to replace the oem plastic. Either will work ok but for conversion work I prefer the outside locks. The ford rear could take one of several joints depending upon original application. You have to do a bit of measuring and decide what you need. You may have to have a custom shaft built or poke around in a few driveshaft piles to see if you can find one the right size. One possibility, they do make cross over joints that match sizes and designs. They work good but can be a bit hard to find and spendy to buy, Here is the Summit U joint page. You can play on there a bit and do some figuring on what it will take to make it fit. http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...4&autoview=sku |

th 350 with 9"ford
As was previously stated there are several different yokes on the 9" ford, depending on year and application. I can speak from my personal experience,I put a narrowed 9" rear from a ford van under my S-10 and didnt have to change the U joint, the chevy joint bolted right up with no problem. Last winter I replaced the 10 bolt camaro rear under my 39 chev with a 9" bronco rear end and again I didnt have to change anything, the u joint bolted right up to the bronco yoke.
