Th350 dirty fluid should i buy it?

Guys im looking at buying a used th350 {there not an off the shelf item in NZ so you kind of haev to buy used} its been sitting for about 18 months & the oils a little dirty. the case is clean so no suspect leaks .. Does the dirty oil mean it buggered or generally needing a service..

Thanks in Advance

Dirty fluid isn't good, but it might not mean the tranny is junk, either.

Smell the fluid. If it's been overheated (a sure sign of trouble) you will smell the tell-tail odor of bad fluid- it's unmistakable.

If possible, see if you can pull the pan and inspect what may or may not be in the bottom and the condition and contents of the filter as well.

You would need to come equipped w/the tools, fluid and filter/gasket to replace the originals with, should you not take it.

Good luck.
