th350 hard shifting

This is kind of a stupid question but when I really give my truck some gas it will shift straight from 1st gear to 3rd gear. Its seems to be a very well built th350 with a shift kit and I am wondering if its jsut that its spinin the tires enough when it punches out of 1st to skip second or is there a deeper problem i shoudl be concerned about? If i put it into second instead of keeping it in drive it lurches forward on the shift and feels great.

HEY ZIGGY: I had a similar problem with a TH350 in my street rod. I put in a B&M Shift Kit with the plate and new check balls, it would take off but then shift to third without building any RPM. I ordered a Transco shift kit and when I removed the valve body I found that the check balls were not in the position that I had installed them. One of them had shifted over into a channel where it was not suppose to be. The Transco kit is much better, easy installation and can be used as a manual or automatic shift. It is about $ 70.00 from www.summitracing.com...GOOD LUCK...DAVE
