Good morning everyone. I'm having a problem with a recently swapped TH350 (junk yard vintage, circa 1977) My son recently drove his truck to the store (everything was fine) upon attempting to leave the truck lost all drive except forward 1st gear. I got called to the rescue. I found the kickdown linkage had become disconnected. I reconnected but the problem continued. I also found that as I revved the engine in park (about 1500-2000rpm) the motor sounded like it was getting bogged down by the transmission(? - I know thats not very clear). Anyone have some thoughts on what is going on? I'm going to drop the pan this afternoon to see what I can find.
OK, I'm an idiot. But you all must have known that since nobody responded to my message.
I dropped the pan and found the 'S' link lying in the bottom. I checked for loose nuts and found the one holding the rooster comb was loose (probably never tightened) which let the rooster comb rock on the shaft and allowed the 'S'link to fall out. Everything is back to functioning as it should now.
Or maybe because we didn't know and didn't want to look like idiots. Congrats on finding the problem.
