th350 kickdown
I have a mildly built turbo 350 with a shift kit in it with a 3200 stall converter with a ratchet shifter, do I need a kickdown cable so I get more line pressure when I down shift? Or can I just put a manual valve body in it?

My 350 has a kick down cable but doesn't downshift. I also feel like it shifts too early, it'll be in third before I know it. I don't know, when I got the tranny the kick down cable was removed and plugged. I took the pan off and installed the kick down, but can't seem to feel it work. So far the tranny has held up better than the previous rebuilt one, and it's from some old guys shed.

You can adjust the shift point by pulling the hose off the vacuum modulator, located on the transmission, and turning the screw that is inside the tube. Test drive and readjust if necessary. |

The kick down can be deleted. I don't have a cable at all on mine and it works just fine. If you really want to downshift just use the shifter.
I have an adjustable modulator and adjusted it so the average shifts are firm but not harsh. The tires just chirp on moderate acceleration around corners but that is the locker working.
