th350 manual shift linkage

Having issues once tranny is in truck
Tighten nut on manual linkage rod next to valve body
Place into NEUTRAL or park, in order to put the rod that comes down from column shifter in?
Doesn't wanna go in when its on park, it tends to kick the linkage into reverse.
Should I be hooking back up in neutral
with the adjutment nut that is on the rod coming down from the colum shifter LOOSE
Or should all these adjustments be done while in PARK?
Losing my MIND here.

PS. If anyone from the 808 (OAHU) on this board, PM me. Could deft use someone with th350 experience over here

You need to have the Shifter and Trans in Park or Low/1st when connecting the linkage.

Got it so it goes from P, to R, to N, to D, down to 2, can't get into 1, and back up. If i get it to go into 1, it won't go back into P

Other than dropping the pan one more time tonight to fix the kickdown seal (the single thing I overlooked), I successfully rebuilt this th350
When I originally pulled it, I had an ice scream scooper of shavings in the pan.
A week of road testing, and shes running and shifting great. Gotta give a shouts to Ron Sessions book, and a big one to this message board. Thanks for the hand HR.com!
