[K72Nova]

K I have a few questions about turning my 72 Nova from an automatic to manual. I'm wondering exactly what I'm going to need to get this done, I've seen a few kits in the $160 range that are supposed to be everything you need besides the transmission and bellhousing but I'm wondering if this is true or not. Another question I have is about how much I can expect to pay for a muncie, in my area I've been seeing them online for around $600-$800 that will still need a rebuild. I understand that local area can be a factor in pricing I'm just curious what people on this site usually pay. Also I'm debating on buying a donor car (72 Nova that came factory with a manual trans) it's been stripped of its engine and trans and the body is pretty rotted out, so really it'd only be good for a few spare parts here and there but I can at least take the factory equipment out for my trans swap. Anyway, any tips, tricks, info or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I don't know about the kits but it's a good thing you have a doner car.The one thing from it that will save you alot of time and effort is the pedal group.Depending on the size clutch you want to use will determine the type bell housing you will need.The Muncie has two diffrent size tail shafts whigh you probably already know.The famous rock crusher M22 has a larger shaft.As far as pricing I would consider looking at a new Richmond before buying something that will need rebuilding.I have several of those old Muncies but havent gone through them yet because of the price of the replacment parts.Even at the swap meets they are like gold here in the south.I had a M20 that needs alot but the casing is perfect and a guy at the last meet wanted my old one and $1,200.00 for his rebuilt one.I haven't tried a Richmond but plan to soon.
And if you haven't bought that doner yet, just see if he will sell just the pedal group because thats about all you will be able to use on you conversion.
