TH350 problem

Ok here's the thing, went for a ride in my junk the other day and after noticing the console shifter neutral safety switch that's supposed to work on P & N was all of a sudden working on D so my car wouldn't start unless it would be in Drive... S-10 Steering tube, with console shifter.

So after a 500 meter lug down the street and everything is working like a charm my transmission starts puke-ing oil through the dipstick hole so i stopped and shut the thing down to avoid fire, since the transmission oil was dripping on the exhaust manifolds. Then after i put some oil on the transmission to compensate for the oil loss. the car would just slip crazy in 1-2-3 gears (like it had stall converter) but all i have is a lame stock converter, and it refuses to take reverse gear !

What could be the problem here guys ???

If i'm not clear on all things please just ask.

Best regards.

If you say you have no reverse, then I would think there was some kind of bind up(two different gear ratios at same time) that was causing the heat and fluid expansion and now has smoked l/r clutch or dir clutch. Especially, if this trans was just gone through.

I wil address this point by piont if possible.

Shifter out of adjustment... will cause troubles if the trans is not fully in the proper detent internally.. This can cause slippage which generates heat and the trans will puke fluid.

Since the trans now seems to slip in forward gears... I guess the trans may be low on fluid of the forward clutch is burned up which would happen when the trans puked fluid.

Same comment on the lack of reverse... burned clutch pack (directs) or the low-reverse clutches or both.

A R&I seems to be in order here ( Remove and inspect) if the trans is full of fluid and the shifter problem has been repaired
