TH350 selector shaft nut size?

I am trying to get my shifter finished up on my 35 Chevy. Its a TH350 with a Lokar shifter. The selector shaft didi not have a nut on it when I got it. I put the lever on the shaft and I can't seem to find a nut in my jelly jar that fits. Is it reverse rotation or something? the threads look fine.

Thanks

Mark

3/8 - 16 thread as mentioned...

some are metric: 10mm x 1.5 thread.

unless some person rethreaded the shaft

And those two LOOK a lot alike ...
I know a guy who almost messed up a 700R4 trying to install a 3/8ths 16 nut on his 700R4

I've had many , many , many phone calls & emails on this. Some folks do not understand metric vs standard threads.

700r4 is full metric.

t-350 was full standard (early years) and some cases had metric and standard threads.... same with the t-400 trans

I had to measure the diameter of the selector shaft ... with a dial caliper. There is only about 15 to 20 thousandths difference in the two. The thread count also LOOKS similar.

DID NOT know that some Turbo 400's also had the metric thread on the selector shaft

the new replacement shift shafts from GM have been metric for years. They come with shaft , seal and nut usually.

I have cut new 3/8-16 threads on a metric shaft trans (700) to save the additional work to replace the shifter shaft.

It was 10mx1.5. Seems kind of wierd since it came out of a 68 Camaro, must have been replaced at some point
Thanks again,
Mark

Good to read you got it figured out.... remember these trans are over 30 years, probably been changed around a bit.

have fun
