TH350 Sun Gear question

Hey all, just a quick question:
Is this normal for the sun gear washer? Its a 1976 th350. According to the photo in sessions book it should have more teeth but instead looks like some teeth were, quite frankly, beautifully broken off.

Is there suppose to be teeth on the actual shell? I did find material in the actual grooves of the sun gear itself...
Stupid questions I know, but first time rebuilder here and can't get a good answer out of the book.
Heres the shell:

yes, the shell should have teeth on it.

the washer wear... if it looks scored, flip it over.

The misssing teeth on the washer.. some washers have teeth that are gone , other washers have full set of teeth.

Thanks for the quick response.. I know crappy photo's but the interior of shell, (where teeth should be) is completely flat and burred. Looks like i'll be ordering a new assembly. The actual sun gear had some metal bur's in between teeth, so I'm guessing it had a bit too much play.
I lost reverse on this transmission, had a little too much fun in the mud.
