th350 swap

Im sure this is mentioned somewhere in this sea of info but i couldnt find it. Are there any particular years of th 350 I should look for when doing a swap? Are there different models such as long shaft and different size shafts? ex. would a 2 whl dr th350 out of truck fit my pontiac? any particular things to look for such as shaft length etc..? And finally, is there any easy fix to get 3 gears ona column shift with only 2 gears? gear markers are in dash not on column. thank you in advance.

The year model isn't important for the TH350 Trans. There're different lengths of Tailhousings/Outputshafts, 6", 9" & 12". Older trucks 72 back came with 6" Tail, 73 up 9". A Long Shaft/Tail Glide and Short Shaft/Tail TH350 are basically the same length. http://www.tciauto.com/Products/TechInfo/trans_dims.asp

I'm not sure about correcting the Column/Dash from 2 to 3-speed indicator. ShiftWorks may have something available. http://www.shiftworks.com/index.html

Tell us about your Pontiac. Does it have a traditional Pontiac engine, or is it Chevy powered? If it has a Pontiac engine, it will have a different bell housing bolt pattern than a TH-350 that came from a truck. There hasn't been a Pontiac installed in a truck since 1959. If it is Chevy powered, you're good to go!

Never mind! I checked your other posts and see that you have a Chevy.
