th350 to t5 swap?

Hi all,
I am running a 90degree chev v6 with a th350 in a small english car. I am interested in converting it to a t5. My plans are to acquire a t5 from a v8 camaro/firebird but I don't wish to use the 18degree twisted bellhousing. I want to mount the tranny upright against the v6(same as sbc bolt pattern). What bellhousing and clultch combination will work for this combination?

I know the t5 is fairly weak but for a relatively light car with a non modified v6, I think the compactness and light weight of the t5 as well as the relative cheapness of it make the right choice.

Thanks

I think I would try an S-10 trans. The forward shifter location would probably work better in the little car, and it mounts straight up. The S-10 trans comes with a 1" 14 spline input shaft. A clutch disc from a 4.3 5-speed Astro van is an 11" that can be used with a typical SBC pressure plate. Bell housing choice would be dependent on the type of linkage you plan on using be it hydraulic, cable, or mechanical. A few simple mods will be needed on the trans. The input shaft where the pilot bearing runs needs a portion cut off. About half of whats there normally works well. The bearing retainer where the throw out bearing slides needs shortened or it will bottom out on the clutch disc. Dan
