th350 tail shaft / extension housing switch

The TH350 in my 72 Buick GS needs to come out. I have another TH350 from a 75 Lesabre I had last year.

The difference is the extension housing. The 72 has about a 6 inch housing where the 75 is much longer.

Question is, whats involved in switching the tail shafts and housing?
Is it an easy switch
Any special tools needed.

Once the 75 transmission is in my 72 I plan to rebuild the 72. (or have it rebuilt by a transmission shop)

Thanks
Curtis

You have to disassemble the t-350 most the way to remove the output shaft

I've been looking at my 72' service manual. And having never "opened" a transmission before, I take it there is alot to it.

This may call for a professional...

Thanks for the reply Crosley.
