TH350 Trans mount
I was needing to lower the transmission crossmember and the engine itself and was wondering, The stock transmission mount supports the trans by it resting on it, Does anyone know if the mount can support the hanging weight? I was thinking of bolting the crossmember mounts (2) to 2 new trans mounts and bolting them to the frame it should lower the trans about 2" and also isolate vibration if any is there. I just have no idea if the mount can support hanging weight. Thanks, Eric

I'm not sure what you mean. Can you draw a picture and post it.Depending on your design What I think you want to do should work as the lower part of the mount is one solid piece of steel.

You're talking about using two transmission mounts as spacers to lower your trans crossmember, right? With the crossmember "hanging" on the mounts?

It would probably be just as good, and cheaper to use some kind of metal spacer to lower your crossmember. The rubber isolator that the transmission is bolted to should be sufficient to reduce vibrations or whatever.

If you like the idea of using rubber spacers, maybe some body mount bushings could be used as spacers. I don't think I'd rely on the trans mounts to support the weight of the trans and crossmember though.

lumberjacknooj, I understand now and agree with you that metal spacers would be the best as trans mounts where not meant to hang weight only support weight.
