Ok please no one tell me i have an automatic, i understand they shift by themselves!

i have a th350 with a B&M shifter(cable operated), hooked to a 355cid, the trans has a 2500 stall in it and a shift kit, the kickdown cable is hooked up correctly to the carb.

---My issue is when driving it shifts awesome and perfect, but when i decel and come to a stop it goes into neutral very smoothly-because i dont even feel it until i come to a complete stop and notice it sometimes will jump back into drive(lurches..). so im confused what could be causing this, it pretty much happens every time, i even sometimes have to tap the throttle on take off just to get it to go back into drive.---

i've checked the fluid numerous times and its where its supposed to be hot and cold

You need to drop the pan IMHO i have seen the filter cause this before it could have came loose. JMO There is something else that can cause this but i just can't think of it right now Might even just need a fluid and filter change also. JMO
When Crosley see's this he can verify or tell something else to help you out.

sounds like the sprag or the one way clutch isnt working proper

Thank's latech,That's what i was trying to remember broken sprag. But i would check the filter first it's the easiest thing IMHO. Could be partially plugged up filter or it came came loose JMO. and IIRC it can be the clutches are going south on you also. JMO Might be best to just take it to a good shop unless you have done these type repairs before. Get a good book and do it yourself and save some cash.
Either way i would have to drop the pan and have a look see.

Absolutely cole. Allways start with the basics first.Seems a lot of post's out there are indicative of people forgetting to or not knowing how to check the basics.Not that I am complaining or dissin anyone,just staing a fact.Good thing theres this place.

B&M shifters have to be adjusted if they are to tight, it will pull itself into neutral. there is one adjustable bracket on the transmission and there is possibly one adjustment in the shifter Assembly itself.
