th400 adapter help

So i just finished dropping my 383 chevy in my 1980 transam that has a bop th400. I bought an adapter on ebay to fit the chevy motor to a bop trans. I bolted up the transmission to the engine and now there is about a 1/2 inch in between the torque converter and the flexplate. on jegs, i read that there kit comes with the plate, bolts, and spacers. has anyone used those spacers before? if so do you know how big they are? I have a bad feeling the spacers may go infront of the flexplate, i was just going to put them in between tc and fp. Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated, i just want to get this car on the road before summer has passed me by. thanks!

You can prbably use just flat washers between the flex plate and the converter. What you will have to be careful of is that the hub on the converter still engages the end of the crank. 1/2" is a lot to space back.

i put a caddy engine in my GMC, used a chevy TH400 with an adpater plate. I ended up cracking 3 flexplates before I figured out the problem and went with a BOP trans....good luck
