TH400 Can I replace a fixed yoke with a slip Yoke?
Got the transmission from a 1979 chevy 1 ton long box which has a fixed (bolted in) yoke off the transmission then a carrier bearing and then a shorter telescoping driveshaft.
The shortbox chevy I have doesn't have any of that. And the driveshaft should be short enough where I don't need a carrier bearing. Can I unbolt the fixed yoke of the transmission and put a slip yoke in its place?

I did it with mine and it worked just fine. My TH400 came from and 87' chevy 3500, it was a jasper rebuilt, but still the same set up as u described with the bolt in yoke and carrier bearing. I unbolted the yoke and put a slip in it for my 82 cutlass, no trouble so far, not even a drop of fluid leakin.
