TH400 only has reverse

Ok, I just put in a bid on a project car on ebay that only has reverse. It has the Th400 as it is a 74 deville. I was wondering what can cause the th400 to only have reverse. If I could get the tranny working it would simplify transport. The search function was not working, so I could not dig up any info on here.

If not when it gets home I have a switch pitch Th400 waiting for it out of my last project car.

First item that comes to mind is the forward clutch.

If ithe vehicle backs up , back it onto a trailer / truck

I guess that is what I will have to do, back it onto a trailer or tow dolly. I won the ebay auction. A little more than I wanted to spend, but only by about 30 bucks.

Like I said, I do have a TH400 switch pitch to throw in once I get the car here.

Now I just need to remove the last project car from my garage. Anybody near northern Arkansas need a 71 cutlass, non fastback, no motor or tranny?

There may be no more posts from me after I get the car home. I may have signed my death warrant. But at least this new one runs. And the interior is all there.
