Post TH400 shift point...help

I need to change (if I can) the speed at which my 400 upshifs. between 20 to 30 mph, it starts to whine and strain to shift up. It does so at 30-35 mph, but at that speed I'm over the speed limit (light to light). So here I am cruising at 25 mph, and my tranny sounds like I have a demon in it screaming to get out. It's embaresing, but am I also hurting the tranny?
This is pretty much an unknown TH400. I'm fairly sure it has a shift kit. :o :o <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

Get an adjustable vacuum modulator (any trans aftermarket supplier) With it, you can set your shift points with an allen wrench.
