Th700r4

How hard is it to rebuild a 700R4. Is it something a 30 year experienced mechanic can do? I've done everything but auto transmissions. I know.....stupid question.....but I had to ask!

With some help from a good manual/book and from some of the builders on here, it should not be a problem with your background. I've done one TH350 and almost done on my 700. Was a mechanic for 16 years but never did an auto until last year. Its fun! Give it a shot.

I am really considering it. It will give me something to do while recovering from prostate surgery!

Ouch!

It's a job and you'll need to either make up a spring compressor or buy/borrow one.

it would seem that lifting heavy items or pushing / pulling would be on a "NO" list after surgery of this type??

Correct.......I meant after several weeks of recovery. Doc said 4-6 then light duty. We'll see what happens. Tranny will be out before surgery.
