TH700R4 Poor Shifting (no shifting) after rebuild

I am helping a friend who is a farmer and is struggling with his truck

94' K1500 350 TBI 4X4

He has owned this truck since 1998 and it has 245K on the clock. Anyway this past summer Ron decided to replace the engine and rebuiild the trans in the truck.

SO he buys a Used 350 TBI and installs it (ran fine) when bought runs fine now.
The TH700R4 was rebuilt by a friend (unknown to me) charged Ron 400 + parts and his 4 Bolt core motor, told Ron to reuse his old TC (it was fine right?). Ron finished up the install fired up the truck and it won't shift out of 1st.

He limped it to where I work 10 miles away, I disconnected the Kickdown and drove the truck it began to shift, slow and soft but it did shift up and down the gears on a 6 miles test drive Ron said he'd leave it like that for a while.

I did some front end work, and he took it home, it quit shifting, wouldn't shift till it it warmed up. Now it won't shift at all even putting around the farm.
I have very limited AT knowledge, I knew to first disconnect the Kickdown from an old GM TSB.

any help would be great Ron has zero cash and his "friend" refuses to call him. I really don't want to pull this thing out but I have a sinking feeling I will be and sending it to my Legitimate Rebuilder.

Running without the TV cable is really bad on these transmissions.
He should hook it back up and try to adjust it correctly.

Its very easy to burn these transmissions up as they slip if the cable is not right.

If the TV exhaust ball wasn't removed during the rebuild unhooking the TV cable wont burn up the Trans. It's a safety feature. It keeps the pressure up. Unfortunately it's usually recommended to remove it in repair Manuals. It's actually better to be unhooked than adjusted with lots of slack in the Cable.
Do as Jake said, check fluid and adjust the TV cable correctly. Maybe you'll get lucky.
