thank you post
Thank you for letting me be apart of Hotrodders. I don't have a hotrod myself but I spent a lot of time doing everbody elses interiors. It was ironic that when I found the web site and registerd ,there was an article about sewing. Then there was someone that wanted to learn how to sew so he can do his own seats. There were some very good advice.I really liked the statement about how costomers would spend thousands of dollars for mechanic and bodywork (don't forget the stereo system) and then cries the blues about how much was left on the budget for that "Class A-1 Interior". Anyway, I just want to throw in my two cents on this sewing subject. I've worked in a lot shops, basicly getting stuck doing the "cut and sew" in costom interiors and marine canvas fabrication for 30yrs.To me,sewing is easy to learn, you can sew the prettiest, brightiest, beautiful cover with all them fancy stiching on it and it will be awsome laying there on your beautiful sewing table,...but if you didn't mark and layout the pattern right, IT WIIL NOT FIT. It will be as worthless as "**** on a bull". So good and happy "sewing" to ya.

Welcome to the site S.A.G.A.
Good to have you here. Hope you can help out with the interior questions. As for the cost of an interior - it doesn't matter which occupation you have, everyone else wants the best quality for the cheapest price; yet they all want the most amount of money for the work that they do at their job. I have always said if you do not have a lot of experience at a particular part of job try to get some extra work and money at your own job. It is better to use the extra money from your own job and pay a professional top dollar for quality work. You will save yourself a lot of time and frustration in the process. Now if you are interested in how it is done, and want to learn the process go ahead and get that experience. You will find out how much you like or don't like doing that part of your project. Hope you enjoy yourself here. |
