I forgot about your Willys, a wicked ride. Typical race engine with 1200~2000 rpm crackling idle or something a bit more mild?

My friend speedydeedy came by one day and I gave him a little ride..

I got it up to around 45 and told him Hang on !!!!!
He said it felt like we took off from a dead stop at 45mph.. It fried them 18.50's..

Randy, that Willy sounds like it could wake the dead. You got at least 40 db on me, but torque motors due to cam and valve timing are always muted and quiet. This is a typical scenario on our 2 lane mountain roads, 50 mph till a passing lane then everyone speeds up and nobody can pass on the steep grades and 8% grades.

I think he figured since he was wide open, nobody would be overtaking him. It happens, and in an open air roadster it is easy to tell as their exhaust note sounds like a vacuum cleaner run amok as it downshifts 2 gears. Most the time when I hear them wide open, they stay in the passing lane and I glide by on the right.
