Thanks Barry

Over the past two years I have asked Barry many questions about epoxy primer. My 55 Chevy truck project had fallen behind, and I wasn't ready to primer but just to keep the details fresh in my mind I kept asking questions anyway.

Finally bought some SPI epoxy primer last month. Had my truck blasted, bought some cheapo guns on ebay and fired up my rusty Sears 1 HP compressor....yup 1 horsepower. Against all odds it sprayed great. Didn't
bother reading the directions that came with the gun. Hell I'm a real man!
Just fiddled with the spray pattern and I was off. Was 65 degrees in the garage. Just shot the front half of the chassis and firewall. Paint shot nice and dried to the touch in an hour. Put on a second coat with no problems. It actually looks like a finish coat. I wasn't expecting the high gloss which explains why scuffing would be need after 7 days. I've made about a dosen trips to the garage just to look at it.

Good stuff. Thanks for answering my questions..the same ones that you get asked day in-day out.

Keith

Sometimes, in spite of everything, it just goes right.
Glad to hear your success, post some pictures.

That Barry guy is ok, we need to thank him in a more
personal way next time I see him, I'll come up with something.
I did buy him a drink once-it was like pulling teeth.
I had to trick him to do it.
Someday I'll get him, someday.

Thanks and glad to help out.
By the way the gloss means you sprayed it perfect as far as wetness and gun adjustment.

So were those dozen trips out to the garage really to look at it, or did you really just want an epoxy high? Better stay away from the uni clear then, or never would get you out of that garage. I know what you mean though, when things go well, to this day I still have to take a few peaks in the garage afterwards.
I think that officially makes you number 689,976,565,468 that that Barry guy has answered a question for.

Geeze I thought the high was my secret...Damn

I actually open the kitchen door that opens into the garage every nite, several times..even when I'm not working on it...Not sure what I expect to see..but I just have to look at it. If I wake up at 3 AM and can't sleep..I pour myself an adult beverage..go out in the garage, pull up a chair and stare at the truck imagining all the great things I'll do to it(or not). The truth be known I have even said "good nite" to my truck...

YA Barry must hear that question about do you need to sand the epoxy in his sleep. Which reminds me I need to ask him that.

Welp..I've exposed enough of myself ...

By the way...You've got a good football team this year...Go Green Bay!

The real test is do you sit in it making that Vroom Vroom noise?

I know how hold ups can be. I have some of Barry's epoxy sitting here waiting on me too.

Yes (sort of).

I have been really sick the last couple of Sundays (my only day off right now). Also it is cold here as of yesterday and I have no place to work inside.

I had the truck apart (fender off), but ended up bolting it back on for a cruise in. LOL
