Thumbs up Thanks for this forum

I just did a trial run on my son's '73 Monte Carlo that I installed a 350 crate engine and rebuilt 700r4 transmission. I followed the past posts instructions on carb and manifold selection and running the engine at 2500rpm for 15-20 minutes and then changed the oil and filter. That crate engine runs so smooth and the 700r4 sure makes a difference... My son and I could feel the increase of powere!! He had a grin from ear to ear as he drove home. Again, thanks to past posts on this forum.

Seon, I seen on your other post you were having Q-jet problems, I was the one who recommended the web site to you, and I apologize if the carb you got was bad. the last carb I got from them was fine, other than the front wells leaked, they sealed them, but did not let it cure before they put it on the dyno and it peeled off easily. Again, I apologize for the inconvenance.

Hey Double, not a problem. I didn't actually buy the Q-jet from the source you mentioned, I bought one locally from a carb rebuilt shop which I'm bringing back. Hopefully, they'll replace it with another. BTW the Q-jet is for the wife's '70 Chevelle. This post is on my son's '73 Monte Carlo. I did the work, he bought all new parts..Edelbrock carb and manifold, crate and rebuilt tranny.
BTW your advise led me to replace the Q-jet rather than changing manifold and carb which equals to BIG BUCKS which I didn't want to spend just before the holidays. Again thanks.

Well I still had problems with the Q-jet on the wife's '70 Chevelle wagon. I brought the car back to the shop where I bought the carb from and explained to them that it didn't run worth *****.
The tech hooked the smog equipment up to the car and lo and behold there was a serious vacuum leak! The carb gasket which was provided with the carb was leaking between the "layers" of material. Onced changed, it dialed it perfect. I would have never thought that the gasket would have been defective. I'm good to go.
