My answer is:
Maybe- Thanks is OK, just not on non-technical forums.
For the same reason that posts in the lounge are not counted on a member's post count; 'Thanks' in the lounge should not be included in their 'Thanks' count.
It would also be useful, in my opinion, if you could click on a member's 'thanks' stats and bring up a list of of posts or threads where they received their 'thanks'.
