the 318 isnt that dismal. you can make that light car go pretty good with it. i think a guy i knew still has a 318 dakota 5 spd with 3.91 gears. the truck hauled ***.

Don't pay any attention to the 54chevrat, that 318 is a fine piece of equipment.
I run a 318 in my Pro Car, runs 11.60's at 114-115 MPH, stock 273 rods, numbers matching 1966 273 heads. Victor manifold, single Race Demon, Racer Brown Solid lifter Flat Tappet Cam...All Iron and ALL MOTOR NO DRUGS....and the ...quote..."PIG" Won our Track's Pro Championship this year, went 5 rounds at the Race of Champions at the Division 6 Finals, went to 8 final rounds at various tracks in the NW and Won 7. The car is a 1966 Barracuda that weighs in at a Hog Slaughter weight of 3080#, do the Math that "Pig" motor needs to make about 450 HP to drive that weight at those speeds and times....reliable?....how about 5 years and 2000 passes and counting. My Protege with his 318 1993 Dodge Dakota also Won the High School Track Championship this year....another "Pig" you don't want to meet in the 1st round. Last year our 440 Dart Won the Super Pro Championship (due to work couldn't race much this year) Don't pay any attention to the Chevy Guy's they're just jealous and for dam sure they don't want my 318 "Pig" Mopar lining up beside them in the 1st round You just keep working on that Hot Rod, it's a fine piece of equipment and one to be very proud of. If you want to learn about Mopars big and small block go to: www.4secondsflat.com If you have a question, call me. |

No Flame intended....well almost
Maybe a match or a camp fireUs Mopar guys got to jump on any and every opportunity to beat up on a Chevy Guy we can. I will disagree with you on the price of installing a BB in this Dart....think about that 7.25 or 8.25 rear end and his 904 tranny....he's better off with a mild hop up his 318 and avoid the $4000 to modify the Dart to handle a BB. BTW Moparchat SUCKS!!!! Needs to renamed to "How to Mis-Manage a Board"..don't get me started on those fools. |
