Is there really such a thing?

Hey all, I'm in quite a snag right now. I've been trying to shed some pounds by swappin out the fenders on my 64 el camino for fiberglass ones and I rly want to drop that heavy tailgate for a fiberglass one. Problem is, I have no idea whether anyone makes these for that year. I do know they make them for the later ugly years of the el camino(later 70s and up). Any suggestions?
Thanks for any help~

If you are trying to lose the weight to gain traction for racing, you are going about it wrong, For traction, you want to add weight to the back of the car and shed it off the front.

Yea, guess I'm not thinking clearly about traction, just concerned about getting some weight off that thing. I could always swap out the bumpers for fiberglass ones but I'd hate to give up the look of those. I probably won't change the bumpers unless there's some way you can chrome fiberglass .

There is a new paint that looks just like chrome. Cosmic chrome. I don't know who in your area can do it. The paint is really cool it goes on white then requires a wash down with distilled water. It turns from white to chrome when the water is applied. A clear coat is sprayed when done.

I work at an exhibit house, we use it for logos. The painters actually did a 5'-0" wheel. It looks really good.

Another cheaper but good way to go is chrome vinyl. Sign shops use it. It comes in different roll sizes. With carefull cutting and mounting the seams can be hidden.

You could always paint the bumpers body color.

Yea but I'm still a little skeptical to painting the bumpers the same as the body color. I'm not real keen on doing that since I like keeping those chrome accent pieces over a black body style(still workin on body before I paint it) but I will look more into chroming fiberglass pieces and if there is a fairly good way to do it, then I'll probably do that. I definitely will have to be verrrry careful around the bumpers . Sometimes, I do bump into them with my knee whenever I'm working on it in my cramped garage. Right now, I just need one of those 20 shops that I applied to to finally give me a call and try me out lol. I'm more than capable of performing the maintenance they require it's just that they nevvver have any openings which keeps me from doing new projects on my car(ran out of money on my carpet installation) . But besides that huge pain, I'll definitely look more into that.
