Those cars had stolen parts and one had the VIN "fall off". CA is cracking down on street racing. They can even arrest people who are watching it now.

I don't think it is aimed at hotrodders. I spoke to a CA police officer about this subject last week on another site.

We are not using stolen parts or street racing. If somone is...they deserve what they get.

exactly...
if they can prove they purchased a stolen part from somebody, then the seller of parts should be investigated until they find the theif him/herself, and then punish that person.

AND...What if you buy a part @ the swap meet & it winds up to be stolen.

That hard to find matching numbers part for your 100,000 Hemi then what ?

The street racing I agree with to a point who here has not on a public road?

A bit drag stick.

Now being on the press ... now that is fun ,fun ,fun , until you blow a Hyd line & the boss blames it on you!

{Still fun thou}

Serves them all right. You read the article about that and some of these guys are putting 10's of thousands of dollars into these little crap cans so they can race. You can't tell me they don't have 20 bucks for friday night test and tune.

There aren't too many tracks left in CA. Another one is shutting down next month!

anytime you are using stolen anything you are in trouble.
If you buy a Hemi block that was stolen 10 years ago, it's still stolen.
If they do find you they will confisicate it.

Thats how it should be, as painfull as it is

Well then Don't buy anything from eBay or a swap meet & damn sure stay away from the used parts yard that $20 alternator could be stolen & send your classic to the press.

What the hell I've crushed them before .

Might be interesting to see how much of that shiny new paint sticks to the roof of the crusher.

No more used parts! It's all a conspiracy from SEMA to sell only New parts

Or maybe Japan & China needs all the steel they can get

K

I have to disagree. Putting $10k into a car is nothing. Which car you choose to put it into doesn't really matter. The faster the thing goes, the cooler it becomes. Vegas and Pintos and Gremlins weren't cool, but once they were hopped up with monster v-8's they became cool. You show me a Honda civic that runs 11's and I'll show you a cool car. And going out to a track isn't always easy.

I don't condone street racing, but it's no reason to take someone's car to the crusher. Take their liscense away or something...that car may be the only asset many of these guys have. Ridiculous. If the parts are stolen or the VIN "fell off", then maybe...

Hey Poncho, they crushed 2 ricers in York region already a few months back.
Everything they do in the States will eventually get copied here.

This is a really extreme measure, but it is the only way to get the attention of some of these guys. Some of the hardcore guys would street race if there was a drag strip next to their house. They do it more for the rush of breaking the law combined with the racing rush. There are just too many people getting killed and some of those weren't even racing! If you have $10,000 tied into a car, getting to a track shouldn't be a problem.

If you buy a used part you really have to make sure what you're getting isn't stolen and you have to ask yourself is it worth it. Also, it just happens that these cars were ricers. ANY car with the violations listed, that is racing, could have the same fate.

If you go to a track, you get a timeslip. I think that a timeslip from a track would be a great way to avoid a race. If someone starts saying their car is faster than yours, just produce the timeslip.
Bottomline, just don't street race or hang out where it is done. It seems really simple to me.
