Post Thingamagig

There is a device on my 350 on the right front of the intake manifold that I need to know what it does. It had a screwed in receiver that holds a needle similar to a carb float needle. I can push it down and pull it completely out. What does it do and should it be pushed in all the way? I think it pops out a little after I drive it for awhile.

depending on what year it is sounds like its some sort of sending unit thats broken or a temp or vacuum switch. in any case if you can pull it out i think its broke. look around for a plug or connector thats not attatched and see if it fits there.
