Third Stop blinks. Why?

My brother-in-law's 47 Chev street rod has a third stop light blinks when he uses his turn signals. What has he done wrong? How can the problem be fixed. He has not made the effort to find a solution and when I follow him on rod runs, it drives me crazy.

third eye

You have three functions. Tail lights, signal lights, and brake lights but only 2 elements in the bulb. The brake lights and signal lights use the same bulb element. The tail lights use the other. The brake light wire feeds into the signal switch to cause the brake light to blink when signalling. At night you have a tailight and signal light because the brake light is blinking.

Sounds like he connected the third eye through the signal light switch. Probably near the back of the car. It should be fed directly from the switch on the brake pedal.

I will post simple diagrams.

Sounds like a simple fix. Simply reroute lead from third brake light to the brake switch and off the tail lights. Thanks, I'll pass the suggestion along to him.
