those darn 7.5'ers

Hello all.

I did a search for 7.5" rearends and read the results from the forum. Everyone says their weak, scary "My olds 455 ruined it" "I was running 450hp and blew it up". But say a person was only running a 4.3lv6 yes hopped up some, i dont' think the tourque would really break 300 - 350 at the most.

So am i still taking my chances, after all a 3.73 posi unit is a perfect ratio for my setup and they are an easier rear to find.
Or am I living in a dream world?

PS trannies a 5spd nvg 3500 close ratio, if that matters.

i also should tell you that the vehicle is a really light geo tracker
weight = 2500 lbs at most!! (tank and my fat ***** in the seat)

Ford Rangers and Bronco II's came with the 7.5 from 1983 to 1990 it was the only rear they used. I know for a fact that they will hold a 250hp V-6. I'm running 4:10 gears in my 4.0 BroncoII w/250hp. 350 might be a little much but as far as a stock 4.1 goes it will hold up just fine.

I would think that you should be in the safety zone with that tq and a light vehicle.,
