Thought I'd share my combo.

I'm having a motor built for my 71 Chevelle. Its a 406.
9.5 to 1 compression, forged pistons.
5.7 rods
vortec heads with ported exhaust and polished intake and exhaust.
roller rockers
holley 750 dp
1-5/8 headers
comp 275 dual cam- 219intake@.050, 229ex.@.050, 110lsa, .462 and .482 lift
th350 with 2200 stall
3.55 rear end with 27 inch tires.

I thought maybe you guys could give me some input on power numbers. I was hoping this combo would make lots of torque.

Just a guess of the top of my head is around 350 horses, and around 400 ft lbs of torque. I don`t think you`ll have any worrys about it having plenty of torque, it`ll have more than enough to move that heavy chevy around. have fun.

My guess would be around 375 hp and 475 tq. Why dont you go with a little more cam? I had the xe268h (one step up from yours) in a 355 with vortec heads in a 1972 nova with a 1900 stall, and it had a ton of low end power. That would just be amplified in a 400. I would actually recommend the xe274h which is one step up from mine. Below is an article with that cam in a 406 with vortec heads. It made 425 hp @ 5000/525 ft lbs @ 3500. Also, it made 450 ft lbs or more from 2000 RPM to 5000 RPM. That is alot of torque.
